Call for case studies

Power and restoration

Are you a practitioner working in the community or within the criminal justice system? Are you a victim, a criminal justice system user, or a researcher? Have you experienced a sense of power imbalance that impacted on your perception of justice? Do you know of any examples where dialogue-based approaches have been used for conflicts that involved power such as racism, gender-based violence, domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse, homophobia etc?

 

Then, this is your chance to have your work and views published in Gavrielides, T. (2021). Power, Race & Restoration: The dialogue we Never Had. Abingdon: Routledge. ISBN 978-1-4724-8835-0.

Examples can be found in 25 Restorative Justice case studies.

 

We are looking for case studies illustrating power imbalances at the personal, societal, inter-state or inter-organisational levels, and how these imbalances were approached through bottom-up methods such as restorative justice and dialogue. 

 

The conflict may or may not have come to the attention of the criminal justice system. They can be in any environment such as the school, prison, community context and we have no limit as to the age of the parties involved. The outcome may have been positive or negative.

 

We are particularly interested in cases with:

• racist elements

• migrant and refugee groups

• hate incidents

• domestic and partnership violence

• aboriginal and indigenous people

• child abuse

• state power

• age discrimination

• disablism and discrimination of people with mental health issues

• sexual abuse.

 

Once approved by the editor, the cases will be published by Routledge. This is a unique opportunity to communicate your work and/or thoughts internationally.

 

SUBMISSION - EDITORIAL GUIDELINES

 

Case studies can be from anywhere in the world. Email one word document that includes the following:

​

• full details and affiliations of the author

• be free of copyrights and not to have been published elsewhere

• up to 1000 words

• explain clearly the conflict that had occurred, its location and date

• explain the power imbalance that the author experienced

• respect the principle of confidentiality and research ethics by not revealing the identity of those involved

• illustrate the outcome of the dialogue based process

• show why it involves power related issues.

 

Case studies will be credited to their author and will need to be sent to the Editor either via the form on this page or contact@rj4allpublications.com
